Color:
Patagonian Rosewood offers an extremely wide range of color variability. Patagonian Rosewood has pale brown / amber heartwood before exposed to the light. After exposure to light this species undergoes a dramatic color change. Colors will change to a dark reddish-brown with black streaks. The black striping in this wood becomes less pronounced over time due to significant color muting.
Photosensitivity:
Patagonian Rosewood will darken dramatically upon prolonged exposure to light. This color change will occur in Prefinished and Unfinished flooring formats. In solid and engineered hardwood.
Luster:
Patagonian Rosewood hardwood is naturally lustrous. Patagonian Rosewood hardwood flooring is typically finished to a Satin or Semi-gloss sheen.

Texture:
Patagonian Rosewood has a fine and uniform texture. Patagonian Rosewood flooring is typically finished to a smooth surface.
Drying Characteristics:

Working Characteristics:
Patagonian Rosewood can be difficult to work as a result of hardness, severely blunting cutting edges. Planing requires a cutting angle of 10 – 15 degrees in order to avoid tearing the wood’s irregular grain. It is best to keep the relative humidity levels in the home between 35% and 50% before, during, and after installing Patagonian Rosewood hardwood flooring.
Durability Rating:
Patagonian Rosewood flooring is extremely durable and resists denting and traffic wear quite well. Patagonian Rosewood is harder than many North American species because of its density and is relatively stable. Patagonian Rosewood flooring is very heavy, weighing ~ 3.5lbs per square foot.
