Species Description
Garapa is a South American wood with yellow to brown-yellow heartwood. The wood has a medium luster, an interlocked grain, and a fine texture that accentuates the wood's rich gold and brown tones. The wood is also rated with a solid Janka hardness rating of 1,700, about 25% harder than Red Oak. Rated as durable and resistant to fungi and insects, Garapa is an attractive and versatile wood that is as resilient as it is beautiful.

Grading
Clear grade, also commonly called Select & Better, is the highest grade available in flooring items. No open defects are allowed and material is 100% heartwood. No breaks, no splits, no cracks. In tropical flooring, tight knots and burls are typically downgraded from Clear to Select or #1 Common grade.
General Information
Unfinished flooring is installed and then sanded and finished on site. For new residential construction, solid unfinished flooring is the preferred choice. Material can be stained and then finished with the customer's choice of gloss level: satin, semi-gloss or high-gloss. Material can also be re-sanded and re-finished many times over offering the customer a floor which will last generations.
All of our imported products are sustainably harvested under IBAMA, FSC or other governmental agencies in the country of origin. All imported products are Lacey Act compliant for legal origin and sustainable forestry practices.
